Jose Aparecido da Silva: “I am here to help my stable to be successful”

Jose Aparecido da Silva is the fourth foreign whip to be present at the Champ de Mars after Peter Knuckey, Chase Maujean and Jose da Silva. In the saddle this morning on behalf of his new employer, he got to know a few horses with which he will be associated. We met the Brazilian to tell us about his feelings about this new adventure. “I am very happy to be in Mauritius. It is a new environment for me and I am pleased to meet Amar and I want to thank him as well as the owners for their faith placed in me. The stable look very professional and my trainer helps me to adapt myself to my new environment. The track seems to be very good and I am planning to have a good season.” As mentioned earlier, the Brazilian got into the saddle on a few steeds this morning including Color My Fate, Lickerio, Winter Guard, Smuts and The Bastille. How does he find them? “The horses in the stable, so far for what I rode, seem to be good. They are beautiful and Amar did a good job with them. ” With the couriers who are currently in Mauritius and the quality of jockeys we have, the competition is likely to be very tough. Nevertheless, Jose Aparecido da Silva intends to do his best to ensure that his team is competitive. “I am not going to tell any number of wins I am aiming to, but what I can tell you is that I am here to help my stable to be successful and to keep my owners happy.”
