Ramapatee Gujadhur has engaged a whip that we have never seen on the Champ de Mars in the person of Peter Knuckey. Aged 48, he discovered our track this morning and we took the opportunity to speak with him briefly.
“My name is Peter Knuckey, I’m from Perth, Western Australia. I have ridden there for 30 years. I had lots of success there and, now, I am happy to ride for the Gujadhur stable.”
It’s no secret. The racecourse is a ‘tricky track’. That said, it is well liked by the Australian. “This morning, the track was very well. I like the track. I need to get used to it. I will have jump outs tomorrow but I am looking forward to this new adventure. There are nice quality horses. I will get a better feeling tomorrow since we will have fast work.”
The Australian does not come to Mauritius to bask in the sun! He has ambition and that’s to his credit. “I want to win the big classic races and make a good name for myself. I like to be in the top 3 and to be back next year”.
