Wayne Wood: Interim License for MTCSL

 

Yesterday, Friday April 15, the Horse Racing Division (HRD) organized a launching in the conference room of the Hennessy Park Hotel. Were present all the members constituting the HRD see list below.

It was Wayne Wood, head of the HRD, who presided over the talk. After giving a quick presentation of those who make up his team, the Australian informed the press that MTC Sports and Leisure Ltd has obtained a provisional license for the 2022 season. « We have no connections in Mauritius. We are not here to make friends. Our task is to set up the Horse Racing Division and we are going to do it. Mr Wood stated, that: “We will make the racing history great. We are here to enhance a group of young people who will be the future of your industry”. 

He reminded to the public that the HRD is here to: “enforce the Rules of Racing in a fair manner without favouring anyone. If there is anything which is a matter of concern, I will look personally into the matter.”

Furthermore, he informed us that from now on the Trump cards will be abolished. Jockeys will no longer be able to commute their suspension to a fine. Trainers will no longer be able to change their tactics once the horses leave the parade ring. Thereafter the traditional questions and answers took place.

The racing season is set to start next Saturday 23rd April 2022, if the weather permits. We will keep you updated in the next days to come.

1.to promote public confidence in the integrity of the Horse Racing industry

2. to ensure that there is transparency and good governance in the organisation of horse racing

3. to ensure that horse racing is fair, clean and free from corruption and malpratice.
